HorizonAire is proud to offer sleep apnea machines, medical gas and oxygen machines in St. John’s and throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. We offer our respiratory home care services to all of Newfoundland to help you breathe easy and enjoy a better quality of life. Having oxygen machines at home benefits you by assisting your breathing and helping your body obtain the necessary level of oxygen during a respiratory illness.
The oxygen machines we offer include oxygen concentrators, back-up medical oxygen cylinders and portable oxygen machines that will help you breathe easy while on the go. All of the oxygen machines from HorizonAire are designed with your individual needs in mind.
Our respiratory professional team is recognized as much for their friendliness as their ability. Comprised of Registered Respiratory Therapists, Registered Nurses with clinical related experience, Bio-Medical Engineering Technologists as well as a consulting Respirologist, each individual has been handpicked for their skill and passion. All of HorizonAire's respiratory therapists are registered in good standing with CSRT (Canadian Association of Respiratory Therapists) and the NLCRT (Newfoundland and Labrador College of Respiratory Therapists).
Registered Respiratory Therapist
Hi! My name is Courtney Lee. I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and I have been working at HorizonAire since 2018. I graduated from the Respiratory Therapy program at College of the North Atlantic in June of 2017, and since then, I have worked in both hospital and homecare/clinic settings. I am in good standings with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), the Newfoundland & Labrador College of Respiratory Therapists (NLCRT) and the Newfoundland & Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP).
Helping people is something in which I take great pride. Practicing Respiratory Therapy allows me to make a difference in the lives of my patients by improving their overall health and wellness. I am always eager to learn new things to further myself in my career and provide the best possible care that my patients deserve.
When I am not at work, I enjoy going for walks with my dog, reading a good book and spending time with friends and family.
I love that the team here at HorizonAire is continuously collaborating to meet every patient’s needs. We are here for you!
Registered Respiratory Therapist
I am one of the Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT) working at HorizonAire. Originally from the west coast of Newfoundland, now living in St. John’s since 2006, I consider myself the right amount of townie and baywoman rolled into one. I graduated from the Respiratory Therapy program at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in June of 2018. I am in good standings with the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT), Newfoundland and Labrador College of Respiratory Therapists (NLCRT) and Newfoundland and Labrador Council of Health Professionals (NLCHP).
Since graduation, I have been lucky enough to work in both hospital and personal homecare settings, and I have been working with HorizonAire since early 2019. I take great joy and satisfaction in my career, knowing that I am improving the quality of life of the people in our community. Ever since I was a little girl, I have always known that I wanted to work in a place that cares for other people and to assist when they are unwell. I consider myself very fortunate to have found a career that allows me to do that.
In my free time, I like to be active and outside enjoying the fresh air! Snowboarding is my favourite pastime in the winter, but my other activities include running, camping, hiking, Ultimate Frisbee and hanging out with my furry friends. Aside from my career, environmental conservation is another one of my passions. It is just as important to keep the health of our planet intact as it is for each individual to stay happy and healthy.
Biomedical Engineering Technologist
I graduated from the Biomedical Engineering Technology program at College of the North Atlantic in 2017, and I have been working at HorizonAire since 2018. I have always had a passion to help others and an interest in electronics/technology, and luckily this position allows me to do both!
In previous years, I have worked in the healthcare industry dealing with direct patient care but working at HorizonAire gives me the opportunity to help patients behind the scenes. You can find me servicing, maintaining, testing, and repairing the various types of medical equipment offered here.
When I am not working, you can find me playing various sports, walking my dog, or hanging out with friends.
Office Administrator/Executive Officer
Since 2015, I have been happily employed here at HorizonAire as the Office Administrator, Executive Officer, ensuring that the business runs smoothly and efficiently for our clients and our staff members. I graduated from the Executive Administration program in June of 2015 from College of the North Atlantic.
I’m usually the first face you will see when you visit us at our office located at 300 Kenmount Road. Besides my daily activities of scheduling, invoicing, maintaining payables/receivables, monthly billing and comptroller duties, my favourite activity is welcoming new and existing customers as they enter our office.
When I am not at work, I enjoy running, hiking new trails, and watching a good movie.
The team and I here at HorizonAire will help get you breathing easy again. We are here for you!
Hi, my name is John Pike. I’m the boss, sometimes…lol! My Dad was a small business owner of a bicycle shop for 50+ years (Pike’s Cycle Stores’), so I’ve been working since I was old enough to pedal a tricycle. But seriously, I started working full time in the family business not long after high school, and I also took some post-secondary business courses – and to this day, my father (whose strong work ethic and commitment to providing top notch customer service) continues to be my role model. Running a business is part of my DNA.
I realized early on that I enjoyed a challenge. My Dad tasked me with finding a revenue stream for the slow winter months in the bike shop, and I started a wheelchair sales/repair/service division (bicycle and wheelchair mechanics were remarkably similar back then). It became quite successful. In fact, so successful that in 1982, I branched out to start my own healthcare company. There were many challenges along the way, and eventually, I founded HorizonAire in 1996. I realized then that our niche was ‘air’ – medical oxygen services and CPAP therapy – and frankly, I have never looked back. We will be 25 in 2021, and I’m proud that the company is still growing and evolving with new technology.
What’s the best lesson I’ve learned? Hire the right people. Every HorizonAire employee is handpicked for their education, experience, friendliness and professionalism. I also insist on at least some retail experience; in my opinion, it’s the best way to learn what customer service is all about.
If you’re ever dissatisfied in any way with the service at HorizonAire, let me know, and I’ll make it right. My Dad would want it that way.
In my spare time, you’ll find me enjoying the great outdoors, RV-ing mostly, listening to my playlist, sitting around a campfire, and having a smile with my wife, family and friends, and of course Zoey, our four-legged buddy.
HorizonAire has a long history of caring, concern and exceptional service. Founded in 1996, the company has built a reputation for supplying quality medical devices and superior service to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) patients and Sleep Disordered Breathing patients. Today, thousands of Newfoundlanders & Labradorians count on HorizonAire, with satisfied customers right across the province. Of course we have provided our service as well to travelling patients visiting us from abroad. It’s important to HorizonAire to help whenever we can.
In this business, patients need knowledgeable, dependable 24/7 service and follow up—the right support at the right time is of utmost importance. At HorizonAire, reliability and accessibility are our top priorities, with a proven record of not only being there when we're needed, but of genuine compassion and consideration.
HorizonAire’s office and store front showroom are conveniently located at 300 Kenmount Road (same plaza as Kelsey’s Restaurant) in St. John’s. Here we have a display library of reading materials, an equipment demonstration showroom, a private consultation clinic room and a fully equipped service centre. For your convenience, we also offer home visits for our home oxygen patients.
Dedicated to setting the benchmark for customer service, HorizonAire ensures we maintain best in class standards. A division of Horizon Distributors Inc., HorizonAire is a registered licensed establishment of Health Canada, an accredited business with the Better Business Bureau (A+ rating) and a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. We are also a member of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB). Looking to the future of the industry, HorizonAire is a student bursary sponsor of the College of the North Atlantic's Respiratory Diploma program.
